Foreclosure Services Charging Upfront Fees - BEWARE

Beware of companies offering foreclosure services in exchange for upfront fees.  Many companies have sprung up offering just this because of the lack of effective regulation in this area, and many of these companies are frauds.  These fake companies succeed because of the sheer number of current foreclosures and the desperation of people who have just gotten notice that they may lose their homes.  One of the most important things to remember in working with these companies is that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.  If you are really in trouble, the best course of action is to get good legal advice or advice from a HUD-approved housing counselor.
